The new Toyota C-HR is a fully electric compact SUV with standard dual-motor all-wheel drive rated at 338 horsepower, a manufacturer-estimated range of up to 287 miles on the SE grade and a North American Charging System (NACS) port with DC fast-charging capability. It seats five, comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and a 14-inch touchscreen, and it is offered in SE and XSE grades. This is a very different vehicle from the gas-powered C-HR sold years ago.
Manhattan Beach Toyota is helping South Bay drivers go electric with clear guidance on range, charging and ownership. Our team handles sales, financing, EV-trained service and Genuine Toyota parts and accessories. Call or contact us today and let us introduce you to the C-HR.
Fully electric. The current C-HR is a battery-electric vehicle built on Toyota's dedicated EV platform, with a 74.7-kWh battery and two electric motors that deliver 338 horsepower and all-wheel drive on every grade. If you remember the earlier C-HR as a small gas crossover, set that memory aside. This one is quicker, roomier and plugs in rather than fills up.
Range and charging are the two questions every EV shopper asks. Here are the essentials:
A typical South Bay commute of 30 to 50 miles a day means most owners charge at home a couple of nights a week. Our team can walk through home charger installation and the public charging options between here and Los Angeles.
The SE includes the full powertrain, heated front seats, 18-inch wheels, a power driver's seat and the 14-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen. The XSE adds 20-inch wheels, memory seating, a panoramic roof and available JBL premium audio. Because the SE's smaller wheels give it the longer estimated range, choose based on whether you value range or style more.
The bZ is Toyota's other electric SUV. It is slightly larger, offers front-wheel-drive versions with longer estimated range and leans toward family practicality, while the C-HR is sportier and comes with AWD on every grade. If you are not ready for an EV, the Corolla Cross is a similarly sized gas or hybrid SUV with available AWD and a familiar fueling routine.
