Rotary Club Members Plant Trees on the Greenbelt (Veterans Parkway)
Manhattan Beach Toyota General Manager Participates as a Rotarian
In less than 90 minutes, twelve large trees were planted on the greenbelt in Manhattan Beach. Volunteers from Manhattan Beach Rotary Club, Manhattan Beach Public Works Department and the community gathered Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, to do the work that will be enjoyed for decades to come.
Darrell Sperber, General Manager of Manhattan Beach Toyota, is a member of the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club. He participated in the planting Sunday morning. The trees were installed along the greenbelt, also known as Veterans Parkway, from 5th to 6th streets in Manhattan Beach.
The City of Manhattan Beach is celebrating its 100th year as a city this year. The tree planting took place on the first day of celebrations that will be held around the City for the centennial.
The greenbelt provides much recreation to its users with its woodchip pathway and dog bags for cleanup. These new trees that line the greenbelt will provide shade for walkers, joggers and bike riders as well as seasonal wildlife.
